Book Review - Chip War

This is short review of Chip War: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology by Chris Miller

This book provides a very good overview of the semiconductor industry, and its current state. Part of it explains the history of how chips were invented, and a good chunk of it highlights the companies and notable persons responsible for some of the most important inventions of the 20th century.

Though most of the book talks about the semicon industry's role in geopolitics, I find myself enjoying most the parts where it talks about tools and innovations produced by the industry. I've learned about some of the technical terms that appeared back in university, and I was able to get a deeper appreciation of the significance of certain tools. For example, in one of my university courses, I was introduced to softwares such as Vivado. The book highlights that only few companies in this world produce the best softwares to automate the design of chips.

5/5 stars.
